Those are some seriously explosive views.
A Bel Air mansion on a site formerly owned by big-budget action movie producer and director Michael Bay has sold for $41 million. The modernist manse originally designed by Jack Warner at 900 Stradella Road underwent a major renovation following Bay’s 2014 sale that nearly doubled its footprint, from just under 8,000 square feet to 15,000 square feet, according to the Los Angeles Times. The home was listed for $45 million. Bay sold it in 2014 for just under $12 million.
The house was built in 1976 but was “torn down to the studs,” leaving only the foundation to rebuild upon, said listing agent James Harris. It was redesigned to take maximum advantage of its 280-degree view, which stretches from Downtown to the Pacific Ocean, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The five-bedroom, nine-bathroom home — up from its original four bedrooms and four bathrooms — features a home theater, wine room and floor-to-ceiling glass walls that frame a large backyard with an infinity pool. The newly built portion of the home contains the movie theater and a “wellness center” featuring a gym, massage and steam room, and a sauna.
Harris and David Parnes of the Agency were the listing agents, and Alexander Tarigo at Rodeo Realty represented the buyer. [LAT] — Dennis Lynch
