Silver Lake’s top 5 home sales of 2017

Silver Lake Real Estate (Credit: Redfin)

Trendy Silver Lake had a banner year in real estate in 2017.

There were 180 homes in the area that sold for over $1 million, 50 more than in 2016, and 16 homes sold for $2 million or more, five more than in 2016, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The most expensive sale of the year wasn’t for one of Silver Lake’s many designer mid-century modern homes — it was the $2.5 million sale of a 1937 hillside Colonial Revival home on Landa Street. Once owned by early 20th century artist Pauline Annon, the 3,280-square-foot home features sweeping views from the Hollywood Sign to the San Gabriel Mountains.

Next up was a Mediterranean-style villa on Balmer Drive that sold for $2.4 million, $156,000 over ask. The home was built in 1929 and features four bedrooms across 2,709-square-feet.

A three-level home on Hidalgo Avenue sold for $2.4 milllion to filmmaker Peter Segal, best known for directing comedies “Tommy Boy,” and “50 First Dates.” The house features 2,000-square-feet of balconies alone, an elevator, and a wet bar.

Rounding out the top five were a $2.35 million sale of a four-bedroom home on Moreno Drive and a $2.28 million modernist home on Lemoyne Street. Both sold for well above ask. [LAT] – Dennis Lynch
