US ambassador Carla Sands lists Bel Air mansion for $37M

U.S. Ambassador to Denmark and Vintage Capital Group executive Carla Sands

A U.S. ambassador and major donor to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has listed her sprawling estate in Bel Air, seeking a cool $37 million.

U.S. Ambassador to Denmark and Vintage Capital Group executive Carla Sands listed her 14,000-square-foot mansion on Moraga Drive, Mansion Global reported. She built it with her late husband, real estate impresario Fred Sands, in 2002. He died in 2015.

The two purchased the site through a trust in 1999. They paid just over $4 million for the property, records show. Oil tycoon Howard B. Keck had an estate on the same property up until 1979.

In Italian Villa-style, the home includes four bedrooms, nine bathrooms, library, walk-in bar, swimming pool and two guest houses. A 10-car motor court can also be found on the four-acre site.

Jeff Hyland of Hilton & Hyland shares the listing with Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker.

Carla Sands was a major contributor to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Fred Sands, however, was no fan. He reportedly called Trump “a joke,” according to a Jewish Journal interview with him in July 2015. That didn’t stop Carla Sands.

She joined President Trump’s economic advisory council in 2016 and he nominated her to the ambassador post in September. She was confirmed in November. She is chairman of Vintage Capital, an investment management firm founded by her late husband in the early 2000s.

The former actress is also seeking to sell a 7,500-square-foot villa on Broad Beach. She listed the two-story Malibu home in September with Coldwell Banker’s Christopher Cortazzo and Hilton & Hyland’s Linda May. [MG] – Natalie Hoberman
