Timberlane Partners plans revitalized hotel in Silver Lake

Property at 4141 Santa Monica Boulevard in Silver Lake (Google Maps)

The sun is just beginning to rise on Sunset Junction.

Developer Timberlane Partners wants to open a 54-key hotel in Silver Lake, which will be the second hotel planned for the fast-developing neighborhood.

The firm will repurpose an existing motel on site, formerly used as long-term rentals, Eastsider reported. There have been casualties, however. Tenants at the property, dubbed Sunshine City Apartments, were pushed out of the complex last year, according to the report.

Venice-based Electric Bowery is designing the hotel, which will include a restaurant.

Elsewhere along Sunset Junction, Frost/Chaddock is finally moving forward on plans to build a trio of buildings. The four-story, 94-key hotel portion is expected to rise at 4000 Sunset Boulevard, pending city approval.

That too will replace an outdated motel, dubbed by locals as the Bates Motel for its location on Sunset Boulevard and Bates Avenue. The shuttered, white-washed hotel was formerly known as the Sunset Pacific Motel.

Seattle-based Timberlane, a value-add investment firm, has several other projects in Los Angeles, including a 32-unit multifamily building in Echo Park and a 177-unit studio apartment building in East Hollywood. [Eastsider] — Natalie Hoberman
