Another mixed-use complex is heading to the San Fernando Valley.
Ketter Construction proposed a 174-unit complex that would include 18,400 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 400 parking stalls, Urbanize reported.
The developer has set aside 10 units for “Very Low Income” residents.
The project, dubbed Van Nuys Plaza, will require demolishing three commercial buildings and a parking lot on a 1.2-acre site at the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Kittridge Street. Renderings published in an environmental report show the residential buildings rising six stories.
Construction is expected to break ground in the fall and be completed in late 2019.
Ketter Construction, co-founded by Boaz Midiovsky and Yaniv Malka, also developed the Barcelona Towers in Koreatown and a 19-unit multifamily project in Valley Village, among other residential projects. The firm is also underway on a mixed-use development at 4920 Melrose Avenue in Koreatown.
The project comes amid a city-wide effort to increase residential construction in Van Nuys, specifically transit-oriented projects. City planners are drafting new transit-oriented plans in preparation for the East San Fernando Valley Transit and Sepulveda Pass Transit corridors, which are expected to have a dramatic impact on a region notorious for its dependency on cars.
