A 75-unit condo project in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of North Hills has gotten the go-ahead despite community opposition.
The 3-acre L-shaped condo will rise at 9433 North Sepulveda Boulevard and 15508 West Plummer Street, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The city council approved the plan earlier this week. It’s the development’s third iteration, and has been in the works for three years.
The complex will be comprised of roughly six dozen low-rise buildings, about 40 feet tall. An earlier development plan would have seen 21-single-family homes and a 54-unit apartment complex no higher than 45 feet. That plan itself was a redesign of a proposal similar to the one that was approved earlier this week.
The properties are owned by a group of six people that purchased the property in 1998. The group brought in Santa Clarita-based Williams Homes as a developer in 2015, but the firm backed out following the second redesign. The owners won’t decide on a developer until they have taken the project through the Department of City Planning entitlement process.
The project is a few blocks from a 364-unit rental project by developer Art Simonian that was approved in August. That project will see building heights as high as 85 feet. [LADN] — Dennis Lynch
