Indivest has restarted its plan to build a striking condominium tower in Westwood, nearly a decade after proposing the project.
The tower, designed to resemble New York’s iconic Flatiron Building, will rise 29 stories atop a former video store at 10955 Wilshire Boulevard, Urbanize reported. Los Angeles-based Indivest recently applied for construction permits to begin work.
The company already has approvals from the city for 144 residential units. It received those approvals in 2012, nearly three years after proposing the project. They expire in 2023.
Called Gayley at Wilshire, it will be located on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Gayley Avenue. The residential tower will have a “dramatic” narrow facade along Wilshire, with a lower level dedicated to retail shops, according to the project’s website. Robert A.M. Stern Architects, also behind the Century in Century City, and luxury condo 15 Central Park West in New York City, among others, is designing the project.
The development firm also owns the Center West office tower next door, which fellow developer Irongate Capital Partners recently moved into, and the six-story Plaza La Reina hotel in Westwood Village.
Once completed, the Gayley will join the Carlyle Residences, a luxe 24-story condominium tower where celebrities including Sofia Vergara, Bruce Willis, Serena Williams and Larry Ellison have all bought units. [Urbanize] — Natalie Hoberman
