Harridge will now incorporate landmarked building into Crossroads of the World project

Harridge Development Group now says it will incorporate the newly landmarked Hollywood Reporter building into its Crossroads of the World megaproject.

The new decision comes less than a month from the first big hearing before the city on the project, and follows public outcry to save the property, Curbed reported. The building, located at 6715 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, was set for demolition before it was awarded landmark status in November.

Overall, the 1.4 million-square-foot Crossroads project will deliver 950 apartments and condos, a 308-key hotel and 190,000 square feet of commercial space. It will have nine buildings, including three skyscrapers, and will cost between $500 million and $600 million, the Los Angeles Business Journal previously reported.

The complex will also have 105 affordable residential units, up from the original 84, according to a public hearing notice.

Harridge unveiled plans for the 7 site nearly three years ago.

It has faced a series of delays along the way, the bulk of which stemming from preservation advocates and activist groups.

Elsewhere in Hollywood, Millennium Partners is revamping plans for its $1 billion Hollywood Center project. The developer, which proposed the complex in 2012, filed new plans with the city last week, revealing details showing it nearly doubled the number of residential units proposed for the site.
