David Silverman spends his time tracking down the minutiae of Los Angeles residences for modern-day billionaires curious about their historic homes.
“I essentially print one copy of the book for the owner,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “It tells the story of their house and all the owners from the time it was built until today.”
Typically, the homes have a Hollywood connection, but Silverman goes far beyond just relaying a laundry list of the celebs that used to haunt or reside in the building; he scours databases and libraries looking for architectural plans, bills, photographs, property records, auction house brochures, articles and even goes through former owners’ personal archives at times.
The result is a $5,000 one-of-a-kind book. The first project Silverman took on was actually for his sister and, after that, he founded his company L.A. House Histories to operate his unique business. So far he’s produced five books with three more on the way. [Los Angeles Times] — Erin Hudson
