Wallace Cunningham-designed mansion lists for $30M

A glassy hillside mansion in La Jolla and designed by architect Wallace Cunningham has listed for $30 million, more than double the amount the current owner paid for it in 2011.

The 10,653-square-foot estate — called the Razor House — is set on a cliff near Torrey Pines State Park in the tony San Diego enclave, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The three-acre property has four bedrooms in the main house, and a separate guest house with two more bedrooms. The main house includes a library, a circular living room, two kitchens, and a billiards room.

The focus of the estate are the series of terraces that overlook the Pacific Ocean, including a rooftop terrace that has a swimming pool and outdoor kitchen. Cunningham, a San Diego resident who studied at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, designed the home using a cantilevered structure to emphasize sweeping ocean views, according to the Times.

The mansion has a center courtyard and an underground garage for five cars.

The property is being listed by Laleh and Niloofar Monshizadeh of Coldwell Banker.

San Diego has seen a steady rise in home prices, benefiting in part from the tech economy whose high-paid employees have boosted sales figures, notably in so-called Silicon Beach. [LAT] — Alexei Barrionuevo
