Zsa Zsa Gabor’s former estate trades for $21M

Zsa Zsa Gabor and the home

A Bel Air villa formerly owned by the late actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has traded for $20.8 million, exactly double what it sold for last May.

The home on Bel Air road hit the market in July seeking $23.5 million.

Spanning 6,400 square feet, the lavish, French Regency-style residence with a yellow exterior features 28 rooms including six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, and also includes a swimming pool, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Gabor purchased the property in 1973, and lived there until she died two years ago. During her four decades at the estate, she hosted Hollywood royalty like Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra, and presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Property records indicate Albert Taban, an executive at his family’s firm Jade Enterprises, has been tied to the property for five years already.

In 2013, a cash-strapped Gabor and her husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt were looking to sell the estate, but not move out. That’s when Taban entered the picture.

Acting through an entity, Taban put himself on the note. He then proceeded to rent the home to the couple for $325,000 each year, while he paid the mortgage. As part of the agreement, the couple was allowed to live there until Gabor’s death.

Records indicate Taban, acting through an LLC, then bought the property outright last May for $10.4 million. Taban could not be reached.

It’s unclear who the new buyer is.

Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage had the listing. Dan Beder of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.

Gabor was a Hungarian-American actress and socialite, best known for the 1952 rendition of “Moulin Rouge.” She married nine times. [LAT] — Natalie Hoberman
