Crews started a large redevelopment project this week that will bring 208 new homes and new restaurants – including an In-N-Out Burger – to northern Orange County.

Urbanize reported that the joint mixed-use project by Brookfield Residential and Frontier Real Investments includes reconstructing a 10-acre retail center at Beach and Garden Grove Boulevards in Stanton into 95,000 square feet of shops and restaurants called The Village @Beach.

Newport Beach-based Frontier is still leasing out some of the properties, but the firm confirmed new tenants will include Planet Fitness, Chase Bank, Raising Cane’s, and In-N-Out Burger. SunCoast Hearing Aids and Repair and the dental office on the site will remain open through the redevelopment, Urbanize said.

A second site, called Latana @Beach, will add 208 for-sale residences by Robert Hidey Architects on an adjacent 12-acre site.

Construction of both sites started Sept. 20 with a joint groundbreaking ceremony. They are expected to open in Fall 2019, when In-N-Out will add another location to its burger chain, which had 335 stores as of June of this year.

Brookfield Residential has been busy in 2018. It is also focused on New Haven in Ontario Ranch, a “gigabit” community in Inland Empire. When New Haven is complete, it will encompass a 124-acre site with some 2,200 homes, a middle school, parks, retail and commercial spaces. The firm is also working on a unique adaptive reuse with Lennar Corp. that will add 750 residences to Whittier. [Urbanize] – Gregory Cornfield
