Hotel with 116 rooms planned for El Segundo

Developers in El Segundo are hoping to add more hotel rooms to a city that has seen a surge of hotel construction.

An entity called Segundo Restaurant Partnership plans to raze a vacant restaurant and parking lot at the northwest corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Palm Avenue to make room for a 55,000-square-foot boutique hotel. Urbanize reported the proposed four-story hotel at 707 PCH will be named Segundo House, and include 116 rooms, a restaurant, and a fitness center.

If approved by the city of El Segundo, construction of Segundo House will last about seven months, according to application files. Axis/GFA Architecture + Design designed the hotel. The firm also designed an 80-room boutique hotel set to be built next to San Pedro’s Warner Grand Theatre.

Segundo House will join more than a handful of other hotel projects underway in the 5.5-mile-wide city just south of Los Angeles International Airport. Recently approved projects include the Hampton Inn & Suites at 888 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, and the Cambria Hotel on El Segundo Boulevard. Also, the AC Hotel at 2130 Maple Avenue was recently approved and is under construction. [Urbanize] – Gregory Cornfield
