Brentwood homeowners want to tear down 1970s home to build 13k sf mansion

The owner of an acre-large Brentwood property wants to demolish a 1970s-era house there to build a new home three times its size.

The owners filed plans for permits for the new 13,300-square-foot home last week. The property, which is just over an acre, currently has a four-bedroom home on it that was built in 1975, according to property records. The house is about 4,000 square feet.

The new home would have a two-story rec room, a squash court, and a swimming pool.

Muhammad Adaya and Nurya Shabir bought the property at 401 N. Tigertail Road in 2016 through a trust for $5.4 million. Adaya appears to be a member of the Board of Directors at the Islamic Center of Southern California. They own another home on Bluegrass Lane in Brentwood that they purchased in 2005 for $3.3 million.

If the new home is for them and not a spec investment property, they’ll count Laker Lebron James among their neighbors. He bought a home on Tigertail Road in late 2017.

Buyers feeling inspired to build their own Brentwood mansion could turn to actor Tobey Maguire’s undeveloped property on N. Carmelina Road. A new owner could build a home up to 15,670 square feet there. Maguire listed the lot for $14 million in September.
