Sprouts-anchored mixed-use project rises in West Hollywood

Renderings of 8550 Santa Monica Boulevard

A vacant, yet high-profile corner on Santa Monica boulevard in West Hollywood is slated to become a mixed-use complex by year’s end.

A three-story building is already taking shape, and will feature 16,000 square feet of office space upon completion, Urbanize reported.

There will also be a 25,000-square-foot Sprouts Market and 1,500-square-foot cafe. Wing, a women-only co-working firm backed by WeWork, is planning on leasing 11,000 square feet at the site.

Michael Talla, a local investor, is developing the project. He bought the 97,000-square-foot lot for an undisclosed amount in April 2015, property records show.

Talla is the co-founder and CEO of Cochise Capital, an L.A.-based investment firm with more than $450 million under management, according to its website. The firm also holds the Carlyle Residences near Westwood Village and the Sports Club Connection in Santa Monica in its portfolio.

Renderings by DLR Group, based in Kansas, depict a low-rise structure with a contemporary exterior and exposed concrete beams.

An initial proposal for the site called for multifamily residential units.

A few blocks north, a flurry of development projects are being proposed for the Sunset Strip. Most notably, Silver Creek Development recently revealed eye-catching renderings for a 15-story hotel and condo project on the site of the infamous Viper Room. The project would sit next door to the Arts Club, another new development slated for the strip. [Urbanize] – Natalie Hoberman
