This week in celeb real estate: Ellen DeGeneres buys in Montecito, Elon Musk buys and lists homes… and more

A-listers made a dent in the Southern California real estate market this week, led largely by another high-rolling Ellen DeGeneres purchase. Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk bought his sixth home in Bel Air, yet looked to recoup some of that loss by listing one of his other properties in Brentwood for sale.

DeGeneres has plunked down $27 million for another home in Montecito. The property, on Santa Barbara’s Valley Road, includes an 8,000-square-foot main house and expansive backyard. There are five bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, two offices, a guesthouse, infinity pool and gym on the 8.2-acre property. The sellers, Marsha Stroum Glazer and Jay Glazar, had the Balinese-inspired mansion custom built for them in 2011. They first listed it for $40 million last year, later dropping the ask to $35 million.

Elon Musk took time off from his busy schedule of building spaceships and tunnels to make a few real estate trades this week. The SpaceX founder bought a new home in Bel Air for $6.4 million — his sixth in the neighborhood, Yolanda’s Little Black Book reported. It includes four bedrooms and five bathrooms. He also listed a 3,000-square-foot home in Brentwood for $4.9 million. The tech billionaire allegedly bought the home for Talulah Riley, his ex-wife, when they divorced for the first time.

A superstar talent manager is putting his Beverly Hills pad on the market for $9.9 million. Arthur Spivak, who has worked with stars like Prince and Tori Amos, is looking to sell his French Country-inspired home. It includes seven bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, a gym, yoga room and dog spa. Spivak, founder of Spivak Entertainment, purchased the home in 2001 for $3.2 million, records show.

Actress Jennifer Garner dropped $7.9 million to acquire a home in Brentwood. The 1930s-era home features four bedrooms and three bathrooms within 3,250 square feet of space. Charlene Marsh, an heir of a Texas oil family, was the seller, according to Yolanda’s Little Black Book. Earlier, it was held in the family of Robert Drabkin, a World War II veteran.

Crystal Hefner, widow of the late Playboy icon Hugh Hefner, has found a buyer in the Hollywood Hills. After an unsuccessful attempt at selling her 6,500-square-foot home for $7 million, or renting it at $32,000 per month, Hefner sold it to Christian Dumontet, co-founder of food delivery app GrubHub, for $5 million. That’s exactly the amount her late husband paid when he bought the pad in 2013. The residence has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, an infinity pool and home theater.

Also in the heart of the entertainment capital, Charlie Sheen once again dropped the asking price of his Mulholland Estates party palace. The 9,000-square-foot property, where Sheen publicly documented a drug-fueled meltdown in 2011, is now on the market for $8.5 million. It first entered the market last year at $10 million. The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom house was built in 1992 and has the usual amenities, including a pool, screening room, games room and a pro-grade kitchen.
