Former Dodger looks to break record on $12M Encino mansion listing

Jimmy Rollins is looking to break a new record in Encino, and not the kind one might expect from a baseball star.

The one-time Los Angeles Dodger, looking to downsize, has listed his 15,000-square-foot mansion in the neighborhood for nearly $12 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.

He broke a record in the San Fernando Valley when he paid $10.65 million for the home just one year ago. Before that, the record was held by Agency co-founder Mauricio Umansky, who paid $8.2 million for the Smokey Robinson estate in November 2017.

Rollins’ massive Neoclassical estate sits on over half an acre on Haskell Avenue, and includes a two-story guesthouse, basketball court, swimming pool and cabana. Its main residence features eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a wine cellar, office and home theater.

Luxurious details, such as sky-painted ceilings and a stone fireplace, are abundant.

Marc Noah of Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.

Rollins, nicknamed “J-Roll,” played for the Philadelphia Phillies for 14 years before he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015. A three-time all-star and World Series title holder, he’s since retired and become a special adviser for the Phillies.

Still, his love for the quiet Encino neighborhood remains strong. He recently bought a smaller 11,000-square-foot home in the area for $8.7 million, spurring the most recent listing. [LAT] — Natalie Hoberman
