A sprawling house listed for sale in Portland, Oregon, comes with 61 bedrooms and a local history lesson.

The brick building spans a three-acre site, and in addition to all those bedrooms, it also has 19 private and 20 shared bathrooms, multiple dining rooms, a commercial-grade kitchen, private offices, religious spaces, courtyards, a gym and an auditorium, according to the New York Post. The asking price is $8.79 million.

Known as Mann House, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1910, Peter John Mann, a real estate entrepreneur, and his wife Anna Lewis Mann built the 62,860-square-foot building to be Portland’s first retirement home.

Over its 109-year history, the big brick house also has been used as a nursing facility, a center for treating alcoholism and, most recently, as a hub for meditation and community activities called the Movement Center.

Listing agent Tom Lawhill of Keller Williams is marketing the property for “specialty” uses such as a school, hotel, co-living residence or senior housing facility. [NYP] – Mike Seemuth
