Fox Corp.’s chief legal and policy officer has made his own big purchase, months after helping the company plan for its mega-deal with Walt Disney Co.
Viet Dinh — a former U.S. Assistant Attorney General — and his wife Jennifer Ashworth Dinh paid $19.5 million for a 16,200-square-foot mansion in Brentwood, The Real Deal has learned. The home in Lower Mandeville Canyon hit the market in December, asking $23.5 million.
The seller was Stephen Walbridge, a strategic adviser at Savills and partner at Santa Monica-based multifamily developer Dynamic Development Company. Records show the deal, which closed April 29, was made through trusts.
Located on Westridge Road, the Farmhouse style home includes nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Amenities include a wine cellar, gym, media room, spa and an elevator. Outside, there is a swimming pool and 925-square-foot guest house.
Jennifer Pinckert Tirney and Kale Mandeleyev of Compass had the listing, though they declined to confirm the identity of the parties involved. Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer. He could not be reached.
Dinh served as U.S. Assistant Attorney General under former president George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003. He started his own law firm, which was later acquired by Kirkland & Ellis. Dinh was on the board of directors at 21st Century Fox before joining Fox Corp. in September to help lead its spinoff from 21st Century Fox. Walt Disney Co. acquired 21st Century Fox for $72 billion in March.
Last month, Guggenheim Partners executive Andrew Rosenfield and his wife, Betsy Bergman Rosenfield, spent $33.5 million to acquire a home nearby. The seller of the Oakmont Drive property was Bruce Karsh, CEO of Oaktree Capital Management.
