VH1 is the latest network to embrace real estate reality television, announcing plans to launch a show called “Love & Listings.” Its star is real estate newcomer Jacob Knight, son of infamous hip-hop figure Suge Knight.
The show will follow Knight as he learns the ropes of the luxury real estate scene in L.A. It’ll also feature a handful of other rookies and some experienced agents, according to Vibe.
Andrew Clinksale of NestSeekers and Alexander Anu of the Altman Brothers team at Douglas Elliman will both be on the show. The brokerage that Knight will be working for was not named in the announcement.
Agent-centric reality shows have grown in popularity in recent years. Bravo’s Million Dollar Listings L.A. premiered in 2006 and pioneered the format, spawning shows in New York, Miami, and San Francisco.
CNBC debuted its “Listings Impossible” show starring Compass agent Aaron Kirman in May.
Some of Knight’s celebrity clientele will appear on the show, including Jermaine Dupri, Amber Rose, and Brandy.
VH1 touts the high drama that’ll be featured on its show.
“In between closing million-dollar deals, the real drama begins as the lines between business and pleasure start to blur, so grab your popcorn!” reads a press release from the channel. Knight’s father is one of L.A.’s most notable figures in music. He co-founded Death Row Records and was present when rapper Tupac Shakur was murdered in 1996.
Knight has had numerous run-ins with the law and was sentenced to 28 years in prison last fall for the fatal hit-and-run in Compton. VH1 ordered eight episodes of the “Love & Listings” and will premiere the show on July 31. [Vibe] – Dennis Lynch
