The Malibu market is still on a hot streak. The latest example: Co-founder of healthcare company GoodRX paid $39.4 million for a beach house in the exclusive community, according to Dirt.com.
Trevor Bezdek and his wife, Jana, bought the 5,000-square-foot home at 23808 Malibu Road in an off-market deal. The seller was hedge funder Mitch Julis, according to the report.
Julis bought the home in 2010 for $21.5 million, meaning the property was a very good investment. He also rented it out for around $6 million during his ownership.
Meanwhile, Bezdek’s net worth reportedly rocketed into the hundreds of millions of dollars when Santa Monica-based GoodRX went public this fall. The company’s primary products are a telehealth portal and a prescription drug marketplace and coupon platform.
Bezdek — who the report noted is also a licensed real estate agent — and his wife own another home in Malibu. They paid $4.5 million for a house on Las Flores beach in 2019. They also bought a mansion in Brentwood in 2018 for $15 million.
The Malibu Road house was built in 1998 and has six bedrooms and six bathrooms. There are three structures on the roughly half-acre property — a two-car garage with living space above, a guest house, and the main house toward the beach side of the property.
Malibu remains one of the most active luxury markets in the Los Angeles area.
The Bezdek buy is one of several eight-figure deals in the city this year. The priciest purchase in 2021 was Whatsapp co-founder Jan Koum’s $87 million buy in Paradise Cove. Meanwhile, developer Rick Caruso is asking $40 million for his beach house in the city.
