Goodwin Gaw — whose Gaw Capital and DJM Capital bought Hollywood & Highland shopping center two years ago — has listed his San Marino estate for $21.5 million.
Gaw acquired the Wallace Neff-designed mansion in 2004 for $6 million, according to the Los Angeles Times, which first reported on the listing. The 10,811-square-foot mansion at 975 Orlando Road is a century old. It was named for its first owner, Harriet Skinner, whose husband James helped found Sears, Roebuck. The home came to be known as Mrs. James Skinner House.
The six-bedroom Italian revival-style home includes the front entrance built around a carved stone fountain. Gaw, whose Hong Kong-based private equity firm also owns the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, has kept the property largely in its original form. The estate sits on 1.8 acres.
Amenities include a wine cellar, tennis court, lap pool, three-car garage, and a formal garden. A guesthouse has two additional bedrooms.
Gaw Capital has around $23 billion in assets under management with properties across the globe. After Gaw Capital and DJM paid $325 million for Hollywood & Highland, it embarked on a $100 million project to renovate the sprawling retail center. Gaw Capital also owns a 100,000-square-foot studio campus in Atwater Village.
