U2 frontman Bono said to invest in Hollywood Hills mansion

Los Angeles has figured as a regular stop on tours for rock band U2, whose vocalist Bono reportedly wants a little piece of the city.

Bono, born Paul Hewson, has invested in the development of a mansion in the Hollywood Hills, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The home is designed by architect Noah Walker with Plus Development Group heading up the project. Tyrone McKillen, principal of Plus Development Group, told The Real Deal he had no comment on whether the rock star had a financial interest in one of his projects.

Bono has worked on business deals with Tyrone’s father Paddy McKillen. Bono was a shareholder in The Clarence Hotel in Dublin. The hotel was sold to Press Up, the company helmed by Paddy McKillen Jr., Tyrone McKillen’s brother, for €3.74 million or more than $4 million, according to The Irish Times.

The Hollywood Hills house is reportedly located near the Californication House, which was developed by top agents Rayni and Branden Williams and Jason Somers, founder of Crest Real Estate.

Bono has been spotted in the Hollywood Hills checking out the progress of the home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

U2’s guitarist The Edge, born David Evans, made real estate headlines in Los Angeles when he applied to build a compound of five homes on the Sweetwater Mesa area of Malibu. The Edge got a green light from the California Coastal Commission in 2015. But the development was challenged by environmentalists, and the California Supreme Court gave the development a thumbs down in 2019 which put an end to the project, according to media reports.

A representative of Bono was not reachable, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and Walker’s office did not respond to an interview request.
