A property owner wants to bulldoze a 113-year-old duplex in the Hollywood Hills to build five single-family homes.
David Hu has filed plans to build the five houses on small lots at 2048 Holly Drive, Urbanize Los Angeles reported. The 1,900-square-foot Craftsman duplex behind a picket fence would be demolished.
Hu bought the quarter-acre lot in May for $1.64 million, according to Redfin.
Plans call for subdividing the property to build up to five single-family homes, each standing up to 34 feet in height and featuring three bedrooms. In total, the homes would span 9,812 square feet.
The row of homes, designed by Gibbs Architects, would each include a ground-floor two-car garage and a rooftop deck.
The application filed with the Los Angeles City Planning Department did not include pricing information beyond indicating that none of the homes would qualify as affordable housing units.
The project site, located just north of the 101 Freeway and a block to the east of Cahuenga Boulevard, sits less than a half-mile from the Hollywood Bowl.
