With New York City’s ever-changing skyline, The Real Deal compiled a list of the top 10 tallest projects currently in the works in the five boroughs.
Four of the top 10 buildings under construction or recently topped out were located in Manhattan’s newest neighborhood, Hudson Yards. Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group held three of those spots, one of which was for the David Childs-designed condo tower 35 Hudson Yards, which is aiming for a $1.53 billion sellout. Tishman Speyer’s office development, the Spiral, also made the list. The project, which should be completed in 2021, already landed two big tenants: pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and investment firm AllianceBernstein.
Though it’s no surprise that Manhattan dominated, one Brooklyn project made the cut: JDS Development’s mixed-use project at 9 DeKalb Avenue. The SHoP Architects-designed tower, which is rising above the former Dime Savings Bank, will will span 556,000 square feet. The former bank structure, which is landmarked, will hold retail, and 400 rentals and 150 condo units will comprise the tower. Michael Stern‘s JDS made another appearance on the list, with 111 West 57th Street, which it’s co-developing with Kevin Maloney‘s Property Markets Group.
