Kunal Nayyar, who played the lovable Indian nerd Raj Koothrappali on the smash hit TV show “The Big Bang Theory,” just bought a property in the historic Hancock Park neighborhood.
Nayyar paid $7.5 million, or just over $1,000 per square foot, for the two-story, five-bedroom brick Tudor property, according to the Los Angeles Times. The seller was Aaron Rosenberg, a music lawyer with bigwig clients such as Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande.
Compass’ Aaron Kirman and Dalton Gomez had the listing, which was originally priced at $9 million in June. Cristie St. James of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented Nayyar in the deal, according to the MLS.
The property was once owned by movie star Nicolas Cage, who lost it and several others to foreclosure during a period of financial troubles at the start of this decade.
Hancock Park has long been a magnet for celebrity homeowners, from Muhammad Ali to Shonda Rhimes, who has several properties there. Last month, Compass shuttered an office it had opened there the year before. [LAT] — TRD staff
