UPDATED: Prolific hotel developer Jayesh Kumar is setting his sights on another project, this one a 70,000-square-foot complex in Hollywood.

Kumar is seeking to tear down two commercial buildings at 1700-1710 North La Brea Avenue to make way for the nine-story hotel, city planning documents show. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, headed by Michael Weinstein, owned one of the buildings, which it sold to PNK for $8.5 million. An AHF spokesperson said the deal won’t close till the end of the year. The group has pushed for affordable housing in Los Angeles.

The filing does not list how many rooms the yet-unbranded hotel would have, but it does call for restaurants on the ground floor.

Kumar, who could not be reached for comment, is listed as the applicant on the project, city records show. He has a track record of developing projects under the corporate name PNK.

Among its other projects, Kumar’s PNK is building a 63-key Hyatt-branded boutique hotel on 1525 North Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood. In Downtown, the company is renovating the Historic Core building at 419 S. Spring Street, to turn it into a 180-key hotel It will be under the Cambria Hotel and Suites brand. The developer is also set to build a 64-key hotel in Glendale.

A previous version of the story incorrectly stated that Kumar was developing the project through PNK.
