Get your earplugs ready. Another young DJ is pumping up the volume in the Hollywood Hills.
DJ Marshmello paid $3.58 million for a quarter-acre property at 1862 Laurel Canyon Boulevard, near West Hollywood, according to the real estate blog Yolanda’s Little Black Book. It was listed for $3.65 million.
The home is walled off and gated for privacy near the end of Hollywood Boulevard and Mt. Olympus Drive. It includes 5,200 square feet of space with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a pool and spa.
Built in 2014, the home sold that year for $3.1 million to Qatari businessman Fadi El Rabaa, who now sold it to DJ Marshmello.
Marshmello kept his real identity a secret for a few years by covering his face on stage and in public with a white helmet that looks like a marshmallow. In 2017, Forbes revealed the star is a 26-year-old man named Chris Comstock.
Rita Benelian with Keller Williams was the listing agent for the sale. Haili Michaels with Brixton Gate Realty represented Comstock.
DJ Marshmello joins other stars of the EDM (electronic dance music) world that have secured Hollywood pads in recent years. Earlier this month, Andrew Taggart of the Chainsmokers bought a 10,100-square-foot home in the Hollywood Hills for $12 million. And earlier this year Richard Saghian, the CEO of Fashion Nova, paid $17.5 million for the former Bird Streets home of the late DJ and music producer Tim Bergling, who was better known as Avicii.
The Hollywood Hills continue to draw frequent interest from celebrity homebuyers. In October, Richelieu Dennis, CEO of Sundial Brands, purchased a swanky home there for $15.7 million. [Yolanda] – Gregory Cornfield
