UPDATED, Feb. 3, 12:08 p.m.: For Jeff Bezos, when it comes to buying the perfect Los Angeles home to share with his girlfriend, the sky’s the limit.
The Amazon founder – and according to Forbes, world’s richest person — has been megamansion shopping in Bel Air and Beverly Hills in recent weeks, having eyed some of the $100 million homes, luxury agents told the New York Post.
Bezos took a look at the late Jerry Perenchio’s sprawling Chartwell Estate, but passed and the Bel Air property went to Lachlan Murdoch for $150 million in mid December. The sale set a record for Los Angeles.
Now the buzz is that Bezos and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, are looking at Casa Encantada, the 40,000-square-foot Bellagio Road behemoth that financier Gary Winnick listed in October for $225 million.
The second half of 2019 saw a handful of mansion sales in the nine-figure range in L.A., after a dry spell that left luxury brokers nervous about the future.
In June, Bezos paid $80 million for a three-unit Madison Avenue condo in Manhattan. Combined, it encompasses 17,000 square feet and 12 bedrooms. [NYP] — Tina Daunt
